Owner and Partner of Medallion Financial Strategies, Inc., Laura Searles Stohlman has been serving her clients since 1983. As a local Gaithersburg financial advisor, she has extensive experience helping individuals plan out their goals and dreams for retirement, as well as, helping structure how their estate will be distributed to their heirs. Laura also specializes in helping small business owners define and seek to achieve their personal and financial goals.
Mrs. Stohlman has achieved the following distinguished designations: Certified Financial Planner™ covering coursework in estate, investment, retirement, tax, and insurance planning; Certified Senior Advisor™ (CSA®), National Institute of Certified Estate Planner™ (CEP®). She is also a Registered Investment Advisor Representative and a General Securities Principal registered with Securities Service Network Inc., a member of the FINRA/SIPC, with millions of dollars under management. Laura agrees to abide by a strict code of professional conduct and substantial continuing education requirements of each organization and society.
Mrs. Stohlman started her financial planning career as a Securities Representative and Research Analyst in the Brokerage Industry. In 1986, Laura became an Independent Agent/Advisor working strictly for her clients. She joined Medallion in 1987. Laura gained her experience through her life’s work and continues to speak on issues such as retirement, investment, long-term care, and estate planning throughout the Metropolitan area for senior centers, investment clubs, churches and civic organizations and societies.
Laura is married to John F. Stohlman Jr., whom she considers her best friend, since 1983. They have two children. Laura and John along with Laura’s brother, Dan, and his wife Eydie, make-up the four partners at Medallion Financial Strategies.
Laura has been a resident of Maryland since 1969. She is active in her church, singing on the worship team and helping furnish apartments for families transitioning out of homelessness through the Dwelling Place. She also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and the local soup kitchen.
